
Melones Beach North The other cove, the one looking at Cayo Luis Peña is the one that has the Snorkeling Reef. This is a beginner's reef meaning that it is a shallow 8'-12' & very tranquil with clear waters and is accessible from land.
Other fish that you will see on this reef are: French, Gray & Queen Angelfish, Rock Beauties, 4 Eye, Banded, and reef Butterfly fish. Schools of blue Tangs and Grunts. Occasionally you will spot a Turtle or a Sting Ray or you can see coasting along a common visitor to this reef, a huge Spotted Eagle Ray its' span 6' and a tail 12' long. Away from the reef some 50' there is a grassy area where you can find, Queen, King and Milk conch. Also Trumpets and other smaller shells.
On the road to Melones you will pass the entrance to Juanita Bananas Restaurant.
