To walk the Beaches along the shore searching for flotsam, shells, seafans and other occasional pieces of driftwood. Let the tides, the waves and the wind do their job and deposit these treasures for your picking. That is Beachcombing and when you find an Island with as many beaches as Culebra has..it is bewildering !
I am the biggest admirer of beaches there is, whether it is a snady tropical beach or a pebble one in Nove Scotia. I try to go to the beach every day, dip in the water and sip my cold beer or cocktail. As you can see I let the real beachcombing to those expert drifters with their unlimited patience, good eyesight and love of great walks. Be assured these Beachcombing naturalists are also great monitors of the Marine Environment.
These beaches are of great importance for recreational purposes but also they form a very distinct habitat for many species of plants and animals, and they are the few remaining nesting sites fo the Marine Turtles in the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
